Western Drought and an Early Start to Wildfire Season

It’s not yet the peak of summer and the Southwest has already faced blazing wildfires and a heat wave of over 115 degrees last week. The drought in the West isn’t anything new, but this year, it’s become the most severe and widespread drought in the past two decades, with global warming only making it worse.
